Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook: Storytellers of the Town is the first major solo exhibition to be held in Australia by this foremost Thai artist. Her work is concerned with fundamental ideas of life and death, history and fate, the tragic limitations and absurd failures of communication, and the reconfigurations of self through a succession of artistic displacements. Storytellers of the Town includes key video installations and photographic images which eerily highlight the uncertainty of meanings and messages. This exhibition is curated by John Clark and Clare Veal.

Produced by the Drill Hall Gallery in partnership with 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, and University of Sydney and is supported by the Commonwealth through the Australia-Thailand Institute of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Gordon Darling Foundation and 100 Tonson Gallery, Bangkok.
